Dance Film Director, Abe Abraham
Updated: Feb 8, 2020
Abe Abraham and I have known each other for 14 years. He scouted me out at Steps on Broadway almost the first week when I came to New York to do another project when we were still living in London. Abe is a dance film director and choreographer. However, from the beginning his vision of dance and his images are only for film which I think is quite unique. His work is not for live performance and there is no narrative, just pure movement. His films are not for everyone, but he cultivates small audiences who love his work. This is his passion, his vision and his world. So far we've done 4 movies together and I was pregnant with each of my kids during the shoot in both the 2nd and 3rd films, so it is very special and personal for me. AND he is a wonderful person to work with.. I have to say that Abe is one of the most if not THE most precise of the choreographers I've worked with. He usually rehearses 2 hours for 3 seconds of movement 😂 So as you can imagine, sometimes I felt suffocated and my head couldn't stop spinning the first time I worked with him. It got a LITTLE easier after 4 films. I also know that he works on one film for, on average, about 3 years. Concept, creating the movement, finding the money, shooting and editing.... My husband & I and Abe and his family became good friends over the years. I am so grateful for this friendship
